5K Race to Be Held to Raise Funds for Loved Cancer Patient

South Jordan, UT – September 12, 2012 – Friends and family are hosting a 5K race and 2K kids walk to raise funds to help support Trisha Thurber in her fight with brain cancer. “Trot for Trisha” will be held on September 29, 2012. The race will be start at 11350 S. 40000 W. and will begin at 8:30 AM.

Trisha was diagnosed in April of 2011 with a grade 3 in-operable brain tumor (Anaplastic Astrocytroma). Since then, she has been diagnosed with skin cancer, and a second grade 3 in-operable brain tumor. Doctors have recently told her that she may have a third brain tumor, but that has yet to be confirmed.

Trisha has been going through chemotherapy since May of 2011, has had multiple surgeries, and twelve weeks of daily radiation treatments. She has fought hard by staying positive, active, and by following a strict diet. Due to her illness, Trisha was not able to keep her job as a programmer at Hill Air Force Base but has still paid all of her own medical bills. She has moved out of her home, sold most of her belongings and has used her savings to pay for her expenses.

The suggested donation for the event is $25 for adults and $10 for kids. If those prices are not within your budget, the family has asked to please come support Trisha anyhow. All proceeds will go directly to Trisha to help with her current and future medical bills.
